30 questions, no signup, instant CEFR estimate

What's your German level?

A free 30-question test across grammar, vocabulary, reading, and listening. It estimates where you stand from receptive skills — it doesn't assess speaking or free writing. You'll leave with an estimated CEFR level, a skill breakdown, and a concrete 8-week plan.

What it covers

30 questions across four skills

Ten questions at each of A1, A2 and B1, so the test finds your ceiling instead of assuming it. Within every level the split is the same, which is what makes the skill breakdown at the end comparable.

Grammar — 12 questions
Articles and cases, verb forms and tense, word order, adjective endings — the structures that decide whether a sentence is understood or only guessed at.
Vocabulary — 9 questions
Everyday words at A1, the wider range A2 expects, and the more abstract vocabulary B1 texts assume you already have.
Reading — 6 questions
Short passages with comprehension questions — signs and messages at A1, letters and articles by B1.
Listening — 3 questions
Spoken German at natural speed, so a level that is fine on the page but not in the ear shows up as exactly that.

Speaking and free writing are not assessed. Judging either one fairly needs a human examiner, so the result describes what you understand, and says so rather than quietly overstating itself.

What you get at the end

The estimate arrives the moment you answer the last question — nothing to sign up for, nothing emailed.

An estimated CEFR level
A1, A2 or B1, with a confidence note, based on how far up the levels your correct answers reach.
A breakdown by skill
Grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening scored separately, so a gap in one shows up instead of averaging away.
The topics you missed
Ranked by how often you got them wrong — usually a short list, and usually the one worth working through first.
An 8-week study plan
A week-by-week focus starting from the level you tested at, with a recommended course to begin.

This is a placement estimate, not a certificate. If you need a recognised result — for German citizenship, for example — the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 is the exam that provides one, and there is a free full B1 mock test here too.
