Schreiben at each level
The task types change a lot between levels. Start with the level you are taking.
A1, Start Deutsch 1
Teil 1: fill in a form from a short text (5 gaps). Teil 2: a short message of about 30 words.
A2, Goethe-Zertifikat A2
Teil 1: a short text message (20–30 words). Teil 2: an email to a friend or a semi-formal contact (30–40 words).
B1, Goethe-Zertifikat B1
Teil 1: a personal email (80 words). Teil 2: a forum post with your opinion (80 words). Teil 3: a short formal message (40 words).

At A1, focus on short messages and simple connected sentences about familiar topics. The Goethe A1 exam asks you to fill in a form and write a message of about 30 words: an invitation, an apology, a request or a plan.
At A2, you should connect ideas, give reasons and describe experiences more clearly. At B1, tasks require more organisation, appropriate register and the ability to explain or support an opinion.
