Free German Anki Decks: A1, A2 & B1

No. These decks are built from our own Goethe-aligned curriculum vocabulary lists — the same word sets that power our A1/A2/B1 lessons. They are not a copy of the official Goethe-Institut Wortliste, which is copyrighted and not redistributed here.

Download the deck for your level, open the free Anki desktop or mobile app, choose File → Import (desktop) or tap the file directly (mobile with AnkiDroid/AnkiMobile), and select the downloaded .apkg. Anki adds the deck automatically — no manual card setup needed.

Most cards do. Each card plays the German word out loud on the front, generated from our word-audio library. A small number of entries (mostly grammar-pattern phrases like "in + Dativ") have no recorded audio and simply show the text — never a broken sound icon.

Yes. Each deck uses a fixed Anki note type and deck ID, so re-importing an updated .apkg updates existing cards in place rather than duplicating them. Your review history and scheduling in Anki are preserved.

This first release covers A1, A2, and B1 — the levels our core curriculum covers today. A B2 deck may follow as that curriculum tier matures.
